2008 – The Year Of Social Media, WordPress, Google and Twitter For Internet Marketers
In a few moments time, we’ll be welcoming the New Year 2009 and and I must say, it has been a hell of a ride for internet and affiliate marketers for the past 1 year of 2008.
A Look Back In 2008
This is the year that many internet marketers saw the evolution of many areas (in random order) like:
- Social Networking Sites like Facebook that are helping many internet marketers establish their reputations and internet marketing services in a social community manner.
- Blogging – almost all successful internet marketers own a blog or two or three and using them to climb on the Search Engine Rankings for their personal advice, tips and reviews.
- WordPress Plugins – the ever-famous WordPress Blogging Platform and the many Plugins that are created in the market now to help bring your blogging to a higher level
- Twitter – when you are just about to familiarize yourself with Blogging, there is a new service called MicroBlogging which you need to get a hand of being able to think smart and blog about your services within 140 characters.
- Google – The Father of Internet Marketing Services and Search Engine. You can see how much it has evolved over the year and it is still evolving! With so many internet marketing services being rolled out every now and then, there’s something for every internet marketers! This something has even gotten many internet marketers to come out with guides to teach you how to make better use of Google.
- Google Adsense and In-Text Advertising. This is also the year whereby many marketers boast about tremendously good earnings being made from Google Adsense and In-Text Advertising like Kontera, Text-Link-Ads and Linkworth.
- Banner Advertising – when you thought that Banner advertising is a thing of the past, it comes in the form of the 125×125 ad format.
- Affiliate Marketing version 2? When you think that you can plainly promote your affiliate product in a plain site and make good money – you have to create landing pages, review sites or those pages from Squidoo and Hubpages to promote your products.
What Can Be Expected In 2009 For Internet Marketing?
- For those who are interested in learning how to make money online, most of the guides that will be released in the marketing will still cater to those who are just starting out. The guides though are more interactive than before.
- More hidden and smaller niches will be explored and explained, like better use of Yahoo! and MSN or other search engines or even Black Hat Marketing Methods.
- There will be even better services like Twitter and social networks like Facebook.
- There would be more exploitation in the mobile market, e.g. iPhone
My Personal Feel For 2009
This will be a better year for those who are interested in really making money online as the learning curve to really get started is shortened. The same rules and techniques for internet marketing still very much apply and it will just take you a bit more persistence and determination to get that first Dollar in!

A wordpress blog is an excellent way to test your business idea and even better still, by the very nature of its interaction with visitors, you will soon discover what to focus on and plan how to align your business idea with what your audience actually wants, which of course means more success for you.
Of all possible ways to start a business on the internet without a lots of technical skills or lots of money, the blogging route looks like the best solution for 2009.
