Why Working From Home, Making Money Online and Being Your Own Boss Will Always Be My Best Options

Wow, been a good Four Days interval since I last posted something here, seems like I have been ignoring my blog (and some others) and my readers for quite some time.

Therefore, my really sincere apologies! Very sorry!

The reason for the lack of consistent posting has been due to my “new rat-race job - as a salaried insurance consultant”, the nature of the job is like an admin + sales job,  subjecting me to a routine-liked schedule and energy-draining work environment.

After a long day of work, you simply have no mood to stare another computer screen. And if you have a bad day (especially in a sales environment - all the rejections) you will have even no mood to do anything else. The bed simply becomes your new best friend!

That brings me to my topic: “Working From Home, Making Money Online and Being Your Own Boss Will Always Be My Best Options”

I must admit, I choose a salary job because of insecurities - Monthly repayments for my University Loans and My Mum’s hospitalization bills.

As a start-up or online entrepreneur, there are still some uncertainties - the main worry will be that you’ll never know when is your next pay-day!

But the pay-off will definitely be better than any rat-race job => Freedom, More Energy and More Money!

Therefore it’s never too late to start anything especially if you are in the same shoes as me.

For a start now, I have started this blog to share my interests in the online marketing world - all the marketing methods and products that many successful marketers have created to teach you and me on how to make good money online.

I am also learning now on how to balance my work-life and my personal development to becoming my own boss.

I have also decided that the world of Affiliate Marketing, Internet Marketing and Network Marketing are some of the good options that I have came across and that you and me can definitely work from home, make money online and be your own boss and definitely escape the rat race.

If you and me share the same interests and goals, let’s make the internet a better place and help many others to have a better life!

If you have any good suggestions on how to improve or your personal experiences (other than spam comments), please share with me!

The Rise of Boo Boo’s of Twitter

If you are on some of the mailing sites of online newsroom, you may be getting some bad press on Twitter… and…

Twitter.com

If you are in your Twitter’s account, you’ll notice this:

Twitter will be short some features while we recover from a database crash. See our blog post for the whole story.

And as you read further on in the Twitter’s Blog, more signs of dark clouds hovering, like:

  • A popular blogger accuses Twitter of refusing to enforce their Terms of Service
  • An errant API project overloading their main database, resulting in the error pages and slowness most people are now encountering.

Are more bad things to come, let’s really keep our fingers crossed…

My two-cents worth of view and suggestion for Twitter:

Twitter is something unique that I have ever came across after blogging and RSS Feed. Why? Blogging invites the updating of the latest happenings anytime, anywhere… RSS Feed makes every blog portable and easy to access…

Twitter is the combination of both (blogging and RSS Feed) in congested form - easy to access, straight-to-point, updated information.

At this juncture, what I am seeing is that Twitter is growing at a rate that’s way too fast. (it’s a free service and many popular bloggers are heavily promoting the use of Twitter - because of them, I have some people following me now…Wow!)

Secondly, may I know who is supporting Twitter in its expansion? Where are the revenues coming in from? There are no banners, no Google Adsense and no donation box in sight.

For such a good service, I do not mind seeing some banners or some advertisement sponsorship. Do you all agree?

Entrecard + MyBlogLog = More Traffic!

Entrecard + MyBlogLog = More Traffic and Better Social Networking!

EntrecardJoin My Community at MyBloglog!

I believe this is a rather good formula.

After my blog post on my experience with the new Entrecard, I experience a small surge in the traffic for this site.

There are more people requesting to drop their “Name Cards” to my Entrecard. (My principle, you drop - I approve!) Thank you! Thank you!

You can also see more new handsome-looking, pretty, and trendy profile faces in MyBlogLog Widgets.

If you are having a blog and like to attract more traffic -> readership, more participation - add Entrecard and MyBlogLog Widget to your online marketing resources today!

They are all free and what do you have to lose?

Another good feature to mention for MyBlogLog is that this free service will help to update your personal page with the latest post and link all your tags to the whole community. Good right?

Spice Up Your Twittering with…

Have been observing some of the Gurus - Ed Dale and Alvin Phang for instance, on my twitter account…

Twitter.com

Seems like they are using a few evil-in-making tools to help spice up their twittering experience.

Let me be your spy… and see what they are using. It’s time to bookmark them if need be. Are you ready?

  1. http://twitterfeed.com - Provide them with the URL for your blog’s RSS feed, and how often they should post to twitter. Seems good if you are promoting an affiliate link. (a standalone service)
  2. http://www.alertthingy.com - as claimed. It’s a desktop app for FriendFeed.com (what’s that?). Seems to work well with Twitter and Flickr with FriendFeed.com as the main core of attention. (could this be a new plot for world domination? - Ed Dale is using a lot of this to post to Twitter…)
  3. http://www.seesmic.com - as claimed, it’s a so-called dashboard for your videos. Still in alpha stage. Another evil plot in the making…
  4. http://www.twittergram.com - designed to work like a telegram service but Twitter style. Comes with MP3 uploading service. Will somebody sing me a “sexy nurse voice” birthday song?
  5. Twitter Tools - a wordpress plugin designed by Alexking. As explained… This plugin creates an integration between your WordPress blog and your Twitter account. Pull your tweets into your blog and create new tweets on blog posts and from within WordPress.

Entrecard Has Improved and You Have Everything To Gain!

One of the free advertising tool that I have added in every of my blogs - Entrecard - has been upgraded and you, as an online marketer, has everything to gain.

If you are still new to Entrecard… What is it all about?

Most of the famous internet marketers will call Entrecard their Business Name Card Service (using the very famous 125×125 ad size) or traffic generation resource.

Which websites are currently using it >> Problogger, Carlocab and John Chow.

If you are still contemplating whether to use this on your blogs - my words of advice - if these Money Makers are using it… use it, it has to be good!

How to start using Entrecard?

  • Sign up for an account.
  • Enter your particulars for yourself and your blog.
  • Use your own 125×125 template design or use the ones provided.
  • Get the code and install into your blog template and you’re done!

Bloggers who visit your site, and are also using the Entrecard, can “drop” their Ad into yours. If you are okay with their Ads, you can approve or decline - make you the Controller and the Master of Destiny!

You expose their ads and in return you gain Credits that can be used to expose your “Name Card” on other blogs. The concept is that simple!

Other Features to note are that, you are only able to charge higher pricing when there is a long queue for advertisements to be shown. My suggestion is to approve the majority.

Also, if you have a high traffic blog and high click-thru ration for your Entrecard Advertisements, you may sell off your credits as well! This is where you can make good money out of your traffic.

The Old Entrecard and The New Entrecard

The old entrecard allows you to advertise only one blog. The new Entrecard allows you to advertise more than one!

This is a very good feature and should have been released very early because, just imagine, if you show a Pet advertisement on a Weight Loss Blog… Does it make sense? What does it say about you as well as a marketer?

Another good feature that’s been released is the revamped Home Page for Entrecard, that may help to expose your blog to many others >> Everytime you update your blog, it will be reflected on the Home Page. (do note though good but if there is a lot of updates of blogs, your updated blog post will only be exposed for that short moment.)

There are other good features that are worth exploring, how best to get all the information you ever need through the ebook provided:

http://entrecard.com/static/entrecard_official_ebook.pdf

If you’re new to Entrecard, and wondering what to do first, this E-Book will guide you along the way. And if you’re an intermediate or advanced user, it’s packed full of strategies you can use to get the absolute most from our service. Download from the link above.

Are You Twittering Today?

The latest craze or “in-thing” on the internet would be “What are you twittering today?”

Twitter.com

Just to share a bit of my twittering background, was that I learn about Twitter from Ed Dale in the Thirty Day Challenge.

I, and many others should, must really give credit to Ed Dale because if many do not know… way before Twitter is spreading like wild fire - he was already promoting the idea of twittering in the famous 30-Day Challenge and has made a claim that this would be the next thing. So look what has happened now.

Watch the video Ed Dale has created back in September’07 entitled  “The Tao of Twitter”

Give you a joke of what happened to me, when I first created my Twitter account - I do not know what to put on it… but the site gave a brief description - “twitter anything about you…” I created my first post of “Having very bad tummy ache, in the toilet now” - that very post got my account banned…

I have managed to get my twitter account back and before getting serious into it, I am currently following a few Gurus on their daily venture - Joe “Mr. Fire” Vitale, Ed Dale, and Mike Filsaime.

So what’s the idea behind twittering as shared by Joe “Mr. Fire” Vitale

If you go to http://www.twitter.com and log in or create an account, you can follow me around in real time in an acceptable, polite, educational, non-stalker sorta way.

In short, I will “Twitter” what I am doing throughout my day — often right from my mobile phone as I’m doing it — and you can follow my path.

And if you poke around twitter.com, you’ll find more interesting people you can follow, too.

Some of the notables you’ll find there may surprise you.

Why care?

Several reasons, but here’s a good one –

You can learn what people you admire (or are just curious about) are doing, reading, writing, learning, promoting, discovering, eating, watching, etc.

Obviously, this can be a priceless education.

One good thing that I should add on top of Joe Vitale’s sharing is that, this can be one good gauge of your expertise (or your position as a expert in your niche) - if more people are following you, you are slowly becoming an expert - making money online is becoming simpler.

So get your hands dirty with Twitter today!

Is There Really A Ghost in Raffles City, Singapore?

Mr. Cake is afraid… and has been taking some sleeping pills to keep the ghostly image off his mind… Why? He saw a youtube video footage that there has been some ghost sightings near his working place. Also… he has the habit of staying late in the office due to heavy work commitments… He’s scared to encounter these “figures”. Watch this video and believe for yourself…

So what do you think? Is there really such a thing as ghost?

Mr. Cake says: “Back Up Your WordPress Database Today!”

Today, my imaginary friend, Mr. Cake, was yelling at me… “It’s all your fault… It’s all your fault that my site got hacked and I lost all my wordpress posts, my favorite comments from the pretty ladies on me and the links to their site! I want to die….!

With an evil grin on my face and showing sympathy next, I replied, “Didn’t you backup your wordpress databases regularly?” Mr. Cake goes, “Huh… what’s that?” I shouted, “What the heck… must I teach you everything? I thought you were boasting how knowledgeable you are to my readers?” I got a good pinch… Ouch…

So here’s the deal, I have to teach Mr. Cake, though his old posts are all gone, he’s not giving up, on how to backup your wordpress database and why you should do it often.

Firstly, you need to know that before you install any wordpress platform to your site either via Fantastico or uploaded through a FTP program - you will need to create a MySQL database (name with password - so take note of this) and you will have to direct your wordpress installation to this database.

Why You Need To Backup this Database?

As mentioned, this wordpress database contains every posts, every comments and every link you have on your blog. If your database gets erased or corrupted or hacked through, you will stand to lose everything you have written. Especially posts that help to generate income for you. And you must know, there are many reasons why this could happen and not all are things you can control. But what you can do is backup your data. After all, it is very important. Just look at Mr. Cake… He’s a sad man now - Charming but No Support!

So How To Get Started?

First you need to know where to save the backup files to (it’s a single file). Best is to save them to multiple locations like your internal and external harddisk, your trusted partners’ computer, online backup site but encrypted with a personal password (when you are famous, you’ll get disturbed often) .

Once you are ready with your saved locations, it’s time to get cranking.

The place that you can start to save your wordpress database, take note, is the

  1. Famous phpMyAdmin which you can easily find in your cpanel. (due to privacy reasons, I can’t show you any screen shots)
  2. Once you are there, look out for the word “Databases” - click on it.
  3. If you have used quite a few databases, look for the one that you have used to install Wordpress with and click on it.
  4. You will start to see a lot of words like “wp_XXX”, look up and you will see the word “Export” - click on it.
  5. Then look through the screen and make sure these options are ticked:
  • Select all the wp_XXX to be exported (take note: if you are using some anti-spam plugins, the information can be quite huge, so you can leave this table unselected.
  • Check on “Add Drop Table”
  • Check on “Complete Inserts”
  • Check on “Save as File”
  • Lastly, make sure the option for Compression is set as “None”

Or simply look through this picture to make sure everything is normal.

Look Through to See all Options are Checked

So once you are done, just click Go and the file will be saved to your computer and you’re all done. All your precious posts are safe-guarded.

Remember to do this regularly. (Mr. Cake, please remember!)
