To all marketers (whichever your level of experience is at this moment) – there is a change in the online marketing scene and this change may affect you sooner than you think!

I have been reading and following on the movements of some trend-setters and many are making the change and based on my opinions, I hope I can give you a clearer picture of the past, present and future!

Past – Long Live Giving Away Information!

The past is the era where many people are just getting onto the Internet in search for solutions (information) to their problems. Back then, technology advancement is not there and whatever information (that really works) there is simply turn precious. Those who know how to monetize these pieces of information became rich.

They, in turn, became Gurus who started teaching people on

how to come out with their own information (making them the expert in return),
how to present them (membership, ebooks, DVD & Videos, etc) and
how to attract people to come to their site in an instant (PPC, Backlinks, Articles, Blog Comments, Forum)

The learning curve for each step became simpler and this in turn became a good chance for those who have learned to share with those who are starting out…

Present – You, He/She, Me – An Expert In Your Own Field And Thus Information Overloading Started…

Want to know how easy it is to find solutions to your problems – just type your problem to any search engines and voila, you have tons of sites waiting for you to give their answers. Some may be totally irrelevant (thanks to power of SEO) while those that are relevant may have the same answers plastered all over the site.

You have a tough question and there’s no answers to it – try social networking! Post your questions on Twitter or update on your Facebook’s profile status that you have certain issues that’s bothering you… and you will just get an instant reply. Problems may be solved in an instant!

Actual problems started arising: those who provided useful information should be rewarded and they deserve every bit of it because they provide value and help save time and efforts. But in reality that’s not the case! One can easily copy the information, repackage it in their own way and resell it. So the actual expert is given less reward.

So this is what is going on at this moment. For any piece of information that’s being shared (especially being sold), check out those who have reviewed them… and you can start seeing a trend… there’s nothing new to the information shared now! But more of such similar information are still being released!

Coming Future – The Trend-Setters And Their Software Tools & Applications

This is the shift that I am talking about. Trend-setters are converting many of these available information into software or tools (I’ll be making lots of reference to iPhone Apps from here on) that will work out a solution for you, for e.g.

Weight-conscious people. There are good information that share tips like tracking your calorie or to go on a specific diet. You can have the information available at your finger tips but to apply them take some efforts. So what the trend-setters are doing now – Applications that can help you keep a diary and keep track of the calories as long as you have your phone.
Believers of Feng-shui. You can have the information as to which direction brings you the luck but to get that direction you may need a specific tool. Not too sure about it, you are in luck now as there can be a tool that’s simplified enough for you to use in an instant.
Exercise Freaks. Similarly, you can have lots of books on the different exercises. Too busy to compile them? Never fear, there could an application that’s already done for you. You can now even do exercises while you are working!

These are just some examples but they are good enough to capture your attention!

So What Can You Do Now…

If you are totally new to providing information and want to really make money online, speed up on your learning curve and get your products out as soon as possible. Then start learning how to present your products as application that your customers can use/interact on a regular basis
If you have experiences and have your products – stop pinning on coming up with new versions. Competition is too stiff. Be innovative. See how you can create an application out of your current range of products. Lack of ideas – surf around the iTunes store or Android Marketplace or Ovi Store – you may just get inspired!

There’s fair bit of learning curve on this area but it will be worth your every efforts. And this can be something that you can be proud of – You manage to become an expert in providing solutions to problems and have your own products (can be created through outsourcing) to showcase your expertise and now, Applications that work out the actual solutions!

What are you waiting for? It’s time to get cracking and to start releasing those applications. Information loading is and will be out!

As promised, here is my personal review of what is Marlon Sanders’ The Writers Secret (his latest release) all about.

First and foremost, if Marlon Sanders does get to read this, I have to personally thank him for the advice he has been giving to me and the little tricks that he has taught me to help bring traffic to this site, which I have been able to duplicate for my other sites.

The Little Critiques…

And before I go on with my review, there’s quite a fair bit of critique going around about The Writers Secret and that many are not used to Marlon’s style of writing in this ebook – which I do agree that the ebook is written with no chapters and it’s a continuous flow of paragraphs of unorganized information. But personally, I feel that this is okay as there’s a little teaching whereby you need to learn to take notes.

And the information shared is in bit-sized… you can digest easily and go on and on with the reading (it’s a 155-page ebook). But if you are not really used to this type of writing, my sincere suggestion is not to get this ebook.

Bits and pieces of information. This is where there’s lots of critiques are about. There’s the first part of information given in the earlier part and lots more all a sudden at the later part of the ebook.

I Have Watched Armand Morin’s Secret PPC Videos

Recently Internet Marketing Guru, Armand Morin, released his Secret PPC System and in view that the introductory video was so nicely done, I have decided to purchase it!

I spent two days watching it (at least 2-3 times) and now I am confident enough to give a review of what this Secret PPC System is all about. And the image below will actually show you the content of the videos:

It’s a traffic-getting method that Armand Morin has been testing it out (a good skill for all online marketers to take note of – always be testing methods and not to stay status quo)
Secret PPC System comprises of 32 videos and each video is part of Armand Morin’s hands on guide to getting the most traffic to your site and to your product via the use of Google Adwords (and paying the least amount – 1 cent per click!).

Next up, keywords selection for the product and site. And Armand Morin will show you how to do a good job with Google’s Keyword Tool. This method is known as the Google Keyword Tool Dig. You will also be shown a live campaign and example on how to make use of these concepts and a do-through in the Google Adwords Account.
Then came the ideas to attract those visitors to commit an action and this action will particularly create a mailing list and ample chances to follow-up with them on a regularly basis.
Furthermore, this action will help you even more should you be promoting Cost-Per-Action (CPA) offers.
Another technique that Armand Morin shares will be the use of Google’s Conversion Optimizer and another component that will help to automatically improve your campaign and target your ads much better.

Some Pointers To Take Note Of When Implementing The Concepts Behind Armand Morin’s Secret PPC System:

What is working for the internet marketing guru may not necessarily work for you. It work for Armand Morin because he tests and also that he has the budget to do so. So, likewise, do your calculations and have enough budget for your Google Image Ads to test out the effectiveness.

2009 – Year Of Systems, iPhone Apps, WordPress, Start-Ups, Twitter, FaceBook, ShortURLs And Clouds

Happy 2010 To One And All!

Have you made your resolutions as how to make this year even better than 2009? If you have, that’s good, and do remember to take action and make it happen. If you have not, it’s still not too late – just remember to write it down somewhere visible (don’t just think through) and get things done!

A Look Back To 2009

Back at the start of last year, I made a blog post on what I have viewed 2009 and guess most of what I have predicted came true! I made a prediction that most marketing guides will still be for newbies (I am right on that), and that there will be lots of hu-has on the mobile industry (iphone has lots of application) and that social media has taken to new heights!

So let’s look into depth on, what I have listed on my blog title, that have made up 2009!

Marketing With Systems

2009 is the year where most online marketers introduced their “self-made” system, e.g. a step-by-step system that a certain marketer has developed from scratch to finding a niche (weight-loss, dog training, golf swings), create or promote an affiliate product around it and made a lot of money around it! You can do it too when you have the similar systems.

My personal feel for this in year 2010

More of such will still be in the market. Do these systems really work? Yes they do! But the fact that more will still be released because of the fact that many beginners lack the discipline to going through the systems and create their own. So I believe 2010 may be the year may most marketers may create “ready-made” systems whereby most will just need to load, modify and they are ready to go.

iPhone/SmartPhone Applications – The Year For Developers And The $0.99 Price Tag

2009 is a crazy year for iphone. Many people insist on having it. There are elders (in Singapore) who know nuts of using an iphone but insist of having one. It’s that crazy. So why is it the year for iphone – it’s the simplicity of using it. You want more out of iphone - just go to itunes and add applications from it.

That’s why this is the year for developers and also the popularity of the $0.99 price tag for most applications.

For 2010. I believe there will be a major price hike. Most people have an iphone and live by applications. And some of these people evolve their life around applications. So this could be the good time where most developers will create sophisticated applications and attach a bigger price tag. You want it – you pay for it!

And for most marketers out there who want to make money out of this niche – get your hands dirty with a bit of programming knowledge or develop an idea and outsource it!

WordPress – Official Blogging Platform For Many

In 2008 and 2009, many people have choices to choose between blogging platforms, e.g. typepad and wordpress. And seems like WordPress has taken the lead and became the top choice for most bloggers.

Reasons mainly because of the widgets, plugins and also Premium WordPress Themes.

And in 2010. More Premium WordPress Themes will be developed, e.g. seeing better/alternative to Thesis, Headway, WooThemes and such. More sophisticated plugins will be created as well – the only mixed feeling for 2010 will be whether a price tag will be attached to these plugins as most have been gotten for free and the only way to support these developers are means of donation.

Internet Start-Ups

2009 is also the year whereby many online entrepreneurs set up their company and begin offering their online services. The Internet is buzzing with activities now and the world needs the next big company similar to Google to take us to greater heights in 2010!

Twitter and Facebook – Everybody Is In And Want Them – Real-Time Updates

Just when you think Twitter may just disappear (since till date, most of us do not the source of their fundings), it’s been confirmed that Twitter will form part of our daily online activities. Facebook is one of them as well. Mainly because of Real-Time Updates.

There’s also lots of application or services created along for the use of Twitter like Hootsuite, Tweetdeck, Tweetadder.

In 2010, we will see lots of real-time updates and no longer just from Twitter and Facebook. Major search engines will be giving us that. You will never know how advance this can become! Let’s await for this!

ShortURLs

This is a craze in 2009. As mentioned above, some internet start-ups consist of these short urls services – some did not survive while some (e.g. bit.ly) are getting popular over time and many other interactive services like analytics come along with it.

As Domain Names are getting longer and taking lots of web spaces, shorturls will help to free up most of this spaces in 2010. Small is the new big!

Cloud Services

Though I do not know much about this. The thing about Cloud Services have been widely-talked about. I believe most online services will depend on this.

Phew. Thinking through all this have been exhausting! 365 days, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and many online activities are going on. Better and Better!

2009 has been exciting for online marketers like me. And I am indeed looking forward to 2010.

2009 is coming to an end soon and this has been a fantastic year with the evolution of internet – sites are becoming easier to make (no more hard coding of the html language) and more people are coming to the social media sites (e.g. facebook and twitter) to express themselves.

This may sound good but also mean that spammers have more chances to make their move (more of that later) and if you (especially if you are an online marketer) are not careful, what you may lose are not just your credit card details (nearly, for me…) and also your favorite password!

This Can Happen To You Especially When You Have A Hot Product

There was a recent promotion of private label rights product membership offered by Calvin and Jonathan of IM Buzz Creators and these are some good PLR products. Before the intention to sign up for it, there came a sudden email offering me a Platinum Membership (no monthly membership and I can get the monthly product for free with only a one-time fee of $4.95 – sounds good right?!)

This is the email of what I have received:

As the site have since been taken down, I can’t show you the evil scheme that these spammers have used to “nearly” cheat me of my credit card details. But what they have done are as follows:

used the related domain name but with different domain extension. Original is under .com. The Fake is under .net.
the site design and setup are done up exactly the same as the original (which can be easily copied by copying the source of the original)
the email address and email content are quite properly used, drafted and utilized (they made effort in planning these well)
the signing up process is quite similar to many of those membership signing up – account setting up with your username and favorite password and followed by your credit card details.

Given by the elements above, I am more than willing to sign up and I believe many of those who are just new to PLR products, membership and online marketing will be more than willing to sign up.

But What Gave The Spammers Away?

There’s no https:// – with the extra ’s’ behind http to signal that it’s safe to give away your credit card details and it will be encrypted.
The Trust sign and logo that the Spammers used are blurred and totally different from those sites that are safe.
There’s no hu-ha’s over Twitter and Search Engines – if this is such a good deal, I believe I am not the only one getting it and those who are offered will definitely make a statement on the Internet.

I Was Right After All…

If Calvin and Jonathan are kind enough to give away, a verification will justify that. So I have sent them a support ticket and they responded with the following email:

Therefore it was a relief that I did not manage to give away my credit card details to these spammers else there will be many vulgarities going around.

Lessons Learnt From This Scenario:

The Internet is getting fun to be in. But there are still many evil do-ers who want to take advantage. Be careful at all times especially when it comes to online purchases.
Spammers do not target people who are new. They target everybody even if you are a professional in your field.
When in doubt, do a few searches around the internet, ask the original creators to verify on it – they will definitely not say they did a mistake in giving something attractive.
There’s no free lunch in the world. If given a chance to make good money on the Internet, I believe Calvin and Jonathan would want to maximize on that – am I right?

Making That Small Change For Big Impact In Your Online Marketing

I am glued to reading Seth Godin (this guy is a Genius!)’s Small Is the New Big: and 183 Other Riffs, Rants, and Remarkable Business Ideas (a book written in 2006 based on a 8 years collection of his very best blog posts, magazine columns and ebooks)

I am only half-way (I’m at P) through to reading this book and I am already getting lots of ideas on how to make that small changes to change the way I work (as an online marketer) and how to really this world in a marketing sense – that’s true (just see how everyone is trying to sell you something)!

And another good thing is that I am not the only one who is into this book – successful heart surgeon, Internet infopreneur, author and social entrepreneur, Dr Mani, is into this book and is also very supportive of the items produced by Seth Godin. So What’s So Inspiring About This Book For Online Marketers?

Under Acorns, Infected – this is a reminder to marketers not to invent new overhead to stall. Though stalling makes it easier to avoid the important stuff that many marketers are actually rewarded for. Lesson learned is that whatever it is that marketers need to do are to start now. Expose your ideas and interact!
Under CEO Blogs – Want to know how to work your blog, learn how to be at least 4 of the 6 factors, namely, C, U, T, P, C, U (get the book and you will know what these letters stand for). And reasons for having these factors? People have choices and will not be going to read, link to, quote your blog unless there’s something for them!
Under Clean Fire Trucks – ever notice how clean the trucks are? This is the very reason that most average marketers are not doing well for their online ventures – they’re simply waiting!
Under Cliff Climbing – this is all about procrastination and mindset as a marketer and for your online business. Point to take home is that your business venture do not have to become big in order to be successful. For example, it’s perfectly normal to display advertisements or asking for ads on your blog even if you have just got started. It’s by starting small whereby you get to make some money and from there you get to grow bigger.

I shall stop at these 4 pointers because should I be listing everything down, it can jolly well be a 10 blog posts.

Therefore for you to enjoy the wisdom of Seth Godin, it would be recommended for you to get a copy of this book.

Important lesson to take from here: Do not remain status-quo (everything remaining the same) being an online marketer – make some changes here and there, learn from the experts and you will see positive results!
