Gut Feel Is That Koornk.com Need To Improve And TipDrop.com Will Be Big After Twitter
Twitter is one of the widely used social media tool for people to connect with each other nowadays, and if you do not believe it, install TweetDeck and get a follow a number of people and you will keep getting the TweetDeck notification of “1 New Friend” (this means that one of your friend has just posted a new tweet) and that irritating beep sound (I eventually off it…)
With Twitter such a success in term of traffic, instant notification, viral marketing and exposure – it’s usually normal for marketers or entreprenuers to try get a share of this pie with their own invention or spinoff.

The Twitter Alternative – Koornk.com That Never Really See Better Days
When I first joined Twitter a while back, I came across this alternative or near to 100% similar site – Koornk.com. I thought there may be massive promotion of this site and also a big migration over to this site. Till date, I am only able to find 9 People from Singapore who have joined as compared to (definitely more than 9) Singaporeans in Twitter now.
In comparison to Twitter, Koornk.com is offering the same interface as Twitter but slightly better in the sense that
- You can type 10 more characters more than Twitter
- You get a cleaner interface (the make you feel good factor)
- You get to add more websites to showcase your interests
- You get to have your twitter profile in Koornk.com so you will never feel lost from home.
Why Koornk.com May Lose Out To Twitter.com?
- The interface is the more or less the same as Twitter with no much differences. You may not see the need to join another to post the same message twice.
- You have lots of Twitter companions to enhance your Twitter experience, like Viral Tweet Scripts to add more followers, or Tweet Later to automate some of your Twitter usage.
- My personal take – it’s easier to remember to type out Twitter than Koornk (I have typed that Koornk way too many wrong times, I keep typing it as Koonrk.
Will Koornk.com be a good alternative to Twitter, you have to decide for yourself. But if you are in there, do add me in Koornk.com, ya?
The New Twitter Alternative – TipDrop.com And How Is It?
I got to know about TipDrop.com yesterday and as such, this is still very fresh. And this site is created by an online marketer, Jonathan Leger who is also behind the successful site – MyWayLinks.net
And you can read more about his idea behind the site (Twitter has too many people tweeting about their breakfast, dogs and spammers – it’s time to get serious!) and the comments that many have for this new site.
In simple terms, you can call TipDrop.com a “social-knowledge” site or a very focused form of microblogging site. And TipDrop is like Twitter meets Wikipedia meets Digg. (I would see it as a better version of Yahoo! Answers)
Over at TipDrop.com, you can
- Create a “tip sheet” focused on a particular subject like SEO, Affiliate Marketing, Making Money With Adsense, and more.
- Your tips can now be up to 255 characters long (more room to showcase your knowledge) as compared to Twitter’s 140 Characters.
- Vote for or against the tips on the tip sheet
- Everything in the system is given a “credibility” score: users, tip sheets and tips. The more users vote for a tip, the higher the credibility of the tip, the tip sheet and the tip-writing user. The more users that vote against the tip, the lower the credibility of those three things (notice the similarity to Yahoo! Answers?)
- Have 10 personal links to appear on the right sidebar of your account page and
- Read This! Very Important! You can put your AdSense Publisher ID and have 75% of all ad impressions and clicks from your account pages and tip sheets credited to your own AdSense account. This is a money making site!
With TipDrop, you are encouraged to post high-quality tips and at the same time establish yourself as an expert in your field. Even if you feel that you are still an amateur, you are always welcomed to learn from this site – post your question and vote for the tips that’s beneficial to you.
Though a good site that it is and will be, there could be something that you may not be used to:
- Not able to follow the Experts
- No Search functions to prowl the site for needed information
- No Tags that’s being showcased
- You have to scroll down a bit to start reading the latest tips
If you have any other suggestions for improvement to the site, please do let Jonathan Leger knows about it as feedbacks are important to create a site that’s user-oriented.
Have fun with TipDrop.com!
