Newbie and Experienced Marketers… Please Pay Attention To Amazon Mechanical Turk!
Amazon.com has released a service whereby Newbie Marketers can start making small money completing tasks at the comfort of their home and Experienced Marketers can start driving traffic and actions to your sites, affiliate products or internet marketing services.
This service, which you can join at no-cost (you can get started easily if you have an affiliate account to promote products from Amazon.com), is known as Amazon Mechanical Turk or mturk.com.
What Is Amazon Mechanical Turk All About?
In a marketing sense, Amazon Mechanical Turk is a market place where Advertisers (known as Requester, in Amazon.com’s term) will list out a series of actions that’s needed to be completed by the Workers, like:
- Data Entry Work (time alloted: 5 minutes, Reward $3.00, HITS available 1)
- Telling what you think about certain products/services (time alloted: 24 hrs, Reward $3.00, HITS available 1)
- Complete survey in a survey database (time alloted: 5 mins, Reward $2.50, HITS available 1)
What does it mean – A Requester requires A Worker to complete a certain task, action within the specified time frame and once you are done, and he/she will be entitled to the reward as stated.
In general, an average Worker can expect to earn between $0.01 to even $4 per task given.
These earned funds can then be transferred (anytime) to your U.S based Bank Account or to Amazon.com Gift Certificate Balance.
How Do I Complete A Task And Make Money As A Worker?
Once you are in your account, you will see a Header Navigation with “Your Account”, “HITS” and “Qualifications” so for a start, simply click on the HITS to see all the available tasks.
To help you save time in going through all the HITS, just make use of the Search Bar located at the top of the page to find HITS that are “within your expertise” and that is paying you at least a certain amount and, of course, you are qualified.
As you can see from the image above, this is what you’ll be seeing on your screen. A quick run through of what each Headers mean to you:
- E.g. Quick Recipe Review and Choose The Best Category For This Product are tasks that you can start doing. Those in shades of blue are available to you whereas in Brown shades will require you to request the Requester to approve you. If you have done a Search, the HITS presented to you will be those that you can get started right away!
- Requesters are simply people who need Workers to complete their tasks.
- HIT Expiration Date is the date that this task will expire.
- Time Allotted is the time given to you to complete the task, and do note that if you failed to complete the task in time, it’ll automatically be set as you have given up the task and will be reflected in your Account Status (like a negative rep).
- Reward is the amount of money you’ll be getting. Do note that the reward is not instantly credited and will require the Requester to review and approve.
- HITS available is the number of Workers that the Requester needs to complete the task.
Once you are ready, just simply click on the View A HIT In This Group to understand what is required of you and to get started.
You can either do a read through or click on the link(s) provided to see if you are up to the job.
If you are ready, simply click on the Accept Hit and complete the task before the expiration time. Once you are done, either head on to the next task or rest for the day and wait for the money to be credited in a day or so.
To see how much you have earned, just click on the Your Account at the top navigation bar and you’ll see all the stats there.
Additional pointer to note on Qualifications: If you are noticing that you are not qualified to complete some HITS (especially the higher earnings), this is because your qualifications are not high enough. Therefore you may need to work on some of the lower and easier tasks to boost up your reputations and Qualifications. Other factor affecting you could be your country of residence.
How Do I Create A HITS As A Requester?
At this time Mechanical Turk does not support Requesters from countries outside the United States (I’m from Singapore…), therefore I am unable to show you how to do so… If you are interested to use this service, please click on this link to get the FAQs >> https://requester.mturk.com/mturk/help?helpPage=requester
