With the number of blogs increasing and the keenness to get exposure in the online community, the Power 150 is one of the many sites that many bloggers will want their blogs to be listed. Already featured in that list are popular guys like Seth Godin, Problogger, and ShoeMoney. These guys are in the top 50 of the list.

How To Get Started?

If you have a blog as well and will like to be listed after your read this post, I will definitely ask you to hold your horses till you know what is expected of your site. I have submitted my site two days ago and my Todd Score (which you will know later) is so low, a mere 10, that I am ashamed!

Whenever You Are Ready…

If you do have a power blog that is ready to be submitted, these are the list of expectations that will be needed from your blog:

  • Yahoo InLinks. To get a high ranking in this, you need to be listed in Yahoo! Site Explorer with a significant number of links to your blog.
  • Technorati Ranking. This ranking system is bascially the number of sites (links) that is source referencing to your blog. Definitely the more, the better!
  • Technorati Authority. This is the number of blogs that is linking to your blog.
  • Technorati InLinks. This number is the one that Technorati will tally with on the number of links to your blog.
  • Alexa Points. Alexa will rank sites with an algorithm that includes page views and reach (the percentage of all web users who have visited your site)
  • Bloglines Subscribers. Bloglines will basically display the number of feed subscribers to your site.
  • Google PageRank. Google PageRank is a link-analysis algorithm that interprets web links and assigns a numerical weighting (0 to 10) to your blog.
  • Collective Intellect. As quoted, Collective Intellect is a social media analytics company that works with brands to evaluate consumer opinion, measure buzz, identify customer sentiment and manage corporate reputations at the industry, company, brand, campaign and messaging levels. For the Power 150, Collective Intellect’s authority ranking uses a patent-pending algorithm to calculate your authority on a topic, including such measures as link-analysis between on-topic posts, topic density, author’s percent of contribution to the topic, number of comments and post quality.

Once you get your numbers ready for the above requirements, all these numbers will be subjected to the Power 150 algorithm and be converted between the range of 1 to 15/20/30.

Once you meet the minimum 20 points for all the objectives above, your blog will be accepted into the list and be awarded a Power 150 badge.
