Targeted Traffic Using Press Release
Press Release or part of Article Marketing, is one of the many techniques Internet Marketers are using to help bring targeted traffic back to your site and at the same time make yourself the expert in your field, if you constantly use this method.
If you have no idea of what a Press Release or also known as News release is, it’s basically a written or recorded communication directed at members of the news media for the purpose of announcing something claimed as having news value. (source from Wikipedia)
Some of these news media that most online marketers are using, you may have guessed it, the Search Engines - Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Ask and much more. Of course, Google being the Famous and Effective, in terms of using long-tail Keywords.
Google may not be the best choice as well, as depended on individual preferences. I do know of Friends who refuse to touch or know anything on Google.
The skills that you will need is that you really have to know your industry well enough and next, the ability to write good article with lots of newsworthy information on what you want to share and also good keywords linking you with the News Media and your site.
Here are some common steps to start using Press Release:
- Keep yourself updated with the latest news/trends in Google/Yahoo/MSN or other News Media.
If you are in Singapore, you can try ChannelNewsAsia, The New Paper or the Business Times. I have them on my Google front page. If you see some news appearing, relating to your current niche or industry, start preparing for the article or press release.
- There is a certain format for Press Release, as to Copywriting.
You can Google search for it. (click here for sample format) Once you get the hand of the Format, you can also save it as a swipe file for further use. Or package it together with your own info-product.
- Your article or Press Release should focus on the subject of the News or Trends, and is related to your current industry. And please do include the keywords to help you rank high in the Search Engine.
- Remember - always make yourself the expert of your field, regardless of your experience.
Many beginners have the common thinking that they are new, so no one will really believe you! That is so not true! You may have just one idea or information that no one knows and that may just make you famous! A word of caution is to make sure what you are writing is making sense and of value.
- Once you are done with the Press Release, submit them to sites like WebWire, MarketWire, PRweb, Internet News Bureau, just to name a few.
- Keep Improving
Once you get the hang of it. Keep improving. Do not stop. This industry keeps changing and more demands are always coming in. You have to constantly improve your style of writing and getting more up-to-date information on the movers and shakers.
